English for Academic Purposes – Loyalist College in TorontoNEW

24 weeks - three, 8-week levels

Prepare for your future academic journey by improving your English proficiency with George Brown College’s highly rated English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program designed for students entering Loyalist College in Toronto. By acquiring strong language skills, you’ll be able to pursue further studies at Loyalist College in Toronto. Enhance your global communication skills and formal language skills to express your thoughts clearly, effectively, and assertively. Upon registration, you will take a Level Placement Test to see which level you should start in. A minimum of 5.0 IELTS score is required to enter the program. If you have taken the IELTS test previously and scored 5.0 you will be placed in level I. A score of 5.5 will place you into level II, and a score of 6.0 would place you into level III. To receive the Certificate of Completion, you must complete over 300 hours to be eligible. As you progress through the levels, you will improve your reading, writing, listening, speaking and grammar skills.

  • Express different opinions through speaking and writing using common expressions.
  • Learn to use non-verbal communication while presenting.
  • Implementation of verbal and non-verbal active listening skills.
  • Gain a better understanding of Canadian culture through contemporary readings and group discussions.
  • Successful completion of the program will provide graduates the opportunity achieve the following testing outcomes: IELTS 6.5 TOEFL 213 – 240 (computer-based); TOEFL 79 – 95 (Internet-based).
