Frequently Asked Questions

I haven’t received my final results yet. Can I still apply?
Yes, students can be issued with a conditional offer pending their final results, which they must send to us on receiving them. Places are limited so early application is advised.

Do I need a visa to study in Ireland?
No, Canadian passport-holders do not require a visa to study in Ireland. On arriving in the airport, you will need to produce your offer letter for TUS, which we will provide. Once in Ireland, you need to register within three months in the Immigration Office (GNIB), in Limerick. The cost of this is€300/$440. For students that do require a visa to study in Ireland, we can advise on applying.

What is the cost of tuition fees?
Colleges Ontario graduates are entitled to a reduced tuition fee of €8,500 (approximately$12,390), per annum. TUS is an approved institution for OSAP funding. The application is not done locally but through the Thunder Bay office. For more information on how to apply, click here.

What is the estimated cost of living for a student at TUS?*

Approximately €3,525/$5,216 per semester (4-5 months):

  • Accommodation (based on student accommodation) = €4,800/$7,000 for the year
  • GNIB registration = €300/$440
  • Health insurance = price varies depending on cover, but basic cover = €150/$220
  • Food = €1,000/$1,450 (monthly = €112/$161)
  • Miscellaneous = €800/$1,160 (monthly = €89/$129

Can I work while I study?
Yes, students are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week during term time and up to 40hours per week during holidays. The minimum wage in Ireland is €10.20/$14.90 an hour.

Will l get to do an internship or work placement?
Most programs at TUS have some element of work placement in the second semester of third year. Students can choose to do this in Ireland or abroad. If you choose to do this outside ofIreland within Europe you can avail of Erasmus+ funding while you complete your placement.
