NO GOING BACK FOR BUSINESS GRADUATE

Behind every product and service we enjoy, there's a business that relies on effective people, practices and leadership. Business skills are needed in every industry, from automotive to sports and entertainment sales and marketing.
 
One of these graduates is Christina Gunning. A work injury kept Christina from employment for six years. During that time, she gave a lot of thought to what she had been doing, and what she wanted to do in the future. When the time came for her to return to work, she knew there was no going back. Alumni AGM and Distinction Awards
The Loyalist College Alumni Association hosted its 2014 Annual General Meeting with a dinner and awards ceremony on November 28 in Loyalist's Club 213. Awards were presented for Alumni Distinction and Employer Recognition. Read more

New Agreement For Transfer Credits
Ontario's 24 colleges have signed the colleges' first-ever province-wide agreement that grants recognition for entire previous years' credits when a student in a business diploma program transfers to the same program at another college. Read more
Loyalist Lancers Give Back
On November 28, the Loyalist Athletics Department held a fundraising event "Together We are Stronger" in support of Thomas Martin, a local youth who is battling brain cancer. The event raised nearly $2,400. See videos and photos on the Loyalist Athletics Facebook page.
RBC Speaker Series Established at Loyalist 
RBC Royal Bank has committed $75,000 to complete and equip the Sustainable Skills, Technology and Life Sciences Centre. As part of its support, RBC introduced a Speaker Series to engage Loyalist students in discussions on the future of the financial industry. Read more
Reynolds Family Supports Campaign
Loyalist is pleased to announce a donation for $25,000 from the Reynolds family in support of the Campaign for Loyalist College. Read more
Post-Grad Certificate in Entrepreneurial Studies
The College announced a new one-year post-graduate program for entrepreneurial-minded individuals, beginning in September 2015. College and university graduates are eligible to apply and will be considered for the program based on a competitive interview and screening process. Read more
OCAA Women's Rookie of the Year

Minister of State (Sport) Visits Loyalist
On November 7, the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport) spoke with Journalism - Online Print and Broadcast and Sports Journalism students and answered their questions. Read more
First Female Sports Director at CHEX
Meaghan Roy, a 2008 Broadcast Journalism graduate, has become the first female sports director and anchor at CHEX television in Peterborough. Read more
College Presents Undergraduate Awards
On November 6, the College presented 326 awards worth over $196,000 to 271 Loyalist students during the Annual Undergraduate Awards Ceremony. Read more
Stuart Wright Recognized 
Former Board of Governors Chair Stuart Wright was presented with an Ontario Senior Achievement Award, celebrating Ontario's outstanding seniors. Presented each year by the Lieutenant Governor, the Senior Achievement Awards are the highest provincial honour for individuals over 65. Read more
Three Students Receive Awards in Bancroft
At the Board of Governors meeting on November 13, Tina Doucet, Bancroft Branch Manager of the Kawartha Credit Union, presented a cheque for $5,000 to Loyalist College for its Endowment Fund. Read more
Board of Governors Welcomes New Members
At the November 13 meeting of the Loyalist Board of Governors at the Bancroft campus, Chair Brian Smith introduced new Governors Aleesha Camp, David MacKinnon and Jean-David (JD) Tremblay. Read more
Barrie Salvation Army Kettle Campaign
Joe Roberts, a graduate of Business Sales (1995) and Business Marketing (1994), helped launch the Barrie Salvation Army kettle campaign by describing his journey. Read more
Habitat for Humanity Project
Students from the Construction Renovation Technician program took part in the official wall-raising ceremony with Prince Edward-Hastings Habitat for Humanity. Read more
Poverty Challenge "Life-Changing Experience"
On November 4, Loyalist faculty and members of the community gave students in the Child and Youth Worker program an opportunity to experience life in a new way. Read more
Journalism Grad Arrives in Bonnyville
Kristen Oelschlagel, a 2014 Journalism - Online, Print and Broadcast graduate, has made her way to Bonnyville, Alberta to start her career in journalism at the Bonnyville Nouvelle. Read more
