LOYALIST GRAD PROVES WOOD WORKS!

Paul Kelly loves going to work each day. "Nothing is more satisfying than when I get to create step-by-step instructions to build an entire building," he says. A 2009 graduate of the Architectural Technology program, Paul now works as an Architectural Technologist with Larocque Elder Architects in North Bay.

 

"Architecture is a huge part of my life," says Paul. "Whether it be sketching on a piece of paper, preparing drawings with AutoCAD or walking a construction site. My passion exploded during the three years I studied at Loyalist and it continues to grow every day." Read more
College Celebrates Success Campaign
On December 11 the College announced it had surpassed the $6 million milestone for the Campaign for Loyalist College, designed to complete and equip the Sustainable Skills, Technology and Life Sciences Centre, and to establish awards and student financial assistance. Read more
Loyalist Professor Recognized
Nursing Professor, Julie Rivers, is the recipient of the SIM-one Citizenship Award for Ontario. 

 

The annual SIM-one SIM Citizenship Award pays tribute to Ontario simulationists who have made important contributions in the healthcare simulation field that exemplify the values of SIM-one. The Award also honours those who have made outstanding contributions in education, teaching, creative professional activities and other endeavours that are difficult to capture and recognize in the traditional sense.
Toronto Star's "Sunny Destinations"

1975 Nursing Class Reunion
The 1975 Nursing class will be celebrating their 40th Anniversary on May 24 - 26 at the Breakers on the Lake in Cobourg, Ontario. Contact Patti (Wilson) Carter for more information.
2014 Milestones - Year in Review 
As the College completes its Strategic Plan for 2009-2014, it is now reviewing the Strategic Plan for the next five years, from 2015-2020. Once details are provided online, community members will be encouraged to provide input to the strategic directions. Read more
2015 Career Fair
Alumni and students are invited to the 18th Annual Career Fair on Thursday, February 5 from 10 am to 1 pm in the Gymnasium. Regional and national employers, who represent business and industry sectors directly related to program training Loyalist students receive, will be available to meet. Read more
Free Job Search Network for Alumni
Loyalist is pleased to partner with Magnet, an initiative co-founded by Ryerson University and the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. The program will gather real-time information about local job markets and provide access to a network of over 60,000 employers and employment-focused organizations across Ontario. This network will search over two million jobs and match job seekers to opportunities based on their specific skills and interests. Alumni can create a profile online. Questions? Fellowship Program Extended
The W. Garfield Weston Foundation has committed an additional $160,000 to help another 40 post-secondary students to complete their skilled trades education with significant tuition and bursary incentives. Introduced at Loyalist in 2013 with a $240,000 commitment from the Foundation, the Fellowship began as a three-year pilot project, providing financial support to 60 students, including 30 in diploma programs and 30 in apprenticeships. Given the Fellowship's success, The W. Garfield Weston Foundation is extending funding for another two years. This will bring the total support through the Fellowship program at Loyalist to $400,000. Read more
