Great Turnout for Loyalist Open House

April 18, 2011

The rainy day did nothing to deter the crowds from attending the College’s Spring Open House on Saturday the 16th. Visitors had the opportunity to explore the campus, talk with faculty, meet current students and attend a parent information session.

Kelsey Thompson is graduating from Centre Hastings Secondary School this year and has been accepted into the Loyalist Television and New Media Production program. She, and her mother Mary, came to the Open House. "I will be spending the next three years at Loyalist so I want to learn as much about the College as I can. Today was awesome. I was able to meet some of the faculty and tour the Television and New Media Production department. I knew that the program was high tech but I had no idea how extremely advanced the facilities would be. When I was researching colleges and deciding where I wanted to go, one of the aspects I found most attractive about Loyalist’s program was how interactive it is. We will be applying the skills we are learning throughout the program in a multitude of ways. I’m really looking forward to entering the program this fall and to the college experience as a whole."

Jahn Alexander came with his family from Guelph to find out more about the College and to meet some of the faculty from the Fitness and Health Promotion program. "This is the first time that I have been to Loyalist, it’s really beautiful – the grounds, the Parrott Centre, and the Link. I feel much more comfortable about coming here now that I have had the chance to meet some of the program’s faculty, see the campus and visit the residence. It was definitely worth the trip to attend the Open House."
