LOYALIST COLLEGE APPOINTS RON BYRNE AS SENIOR VICE-PRESIDENT ACADEMIC

Belleville, Ontario, May 13, 2020 – Today Loyalist College announced that Ron Byrne will serve as Senior Vice-President Academic, effective July 15.Previously, Mr. Byrne was Vice-President, International & Student Affairs at Mount Allison University and Associate Vice-President of Student Affairs at the University of Regina.

“Ron brings to Loyalist extensive leadership in Canadian and international higher education,” said Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan, Loyalist College President & CEO. “He has a proven history of successfully developing and leading cross-organizational teams, establishing innovative programming and delivering superior student experiences that prepare graduates for careers of the future. We’re grateful that he has chosen to bring his expertise to Destination Loyalist.”

Mr. Byrne’s most recent executive position was Interim Vice-President Academics and Associate Vice-President Academics for the College of the North Atlantic in Qatar. Before returning to the classroom in a faculty role, he reported directly to the Qatar Presidentand was responsible for all five academic schools, including the management of approximately 400 staff and faculty. He forged relations with different stakeholders in Qatar including other educational institutions, government and industry.

Mr. Byrne has leadership experience across a wide spectrum of responsibilities including long-range planning, budgeting, curriculum, program development, internationalization and student-centred learning. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of New Brunswick and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
