Loyalist College FOCUS Now Available with Winter 2008 Continuing Education Courses and Programs

The Winter 2008 FOCUS calendar is now available, outlining the variety of learning opportunities available through Continuing Education at Loyalist College. Over 700 part-time, evening and distance education courses and certificate programs, as well as a number of new, shorter workshops, will be offered at the College’s campus in Belleville and Bancroft and at eight other locations throughout the area.  Most winter semester courses begin during the week of January 14th. Distance education classes begin on January 11th. Many on-line courses now offer monthly intakes.

FOCUS was delivered to area homes in early December and is available now on-line at www.loyalistfocus.com. Registration for all courses, both on and off campus, has begun on-line and by mail, fax, phone and in person. Call (613) 969-7900 or toll free 1-866-344-9944.

Dave O’Hearn, Acting Continuing Education Manager, encourages those looking for something different this winter to check out the Prime Time 55+ program. “A provincial survey has shown that 34% of our Continuing Education students are 55 years of age and older. Prime Time focuses on learning opportunities which address current issues, recognizing the significance of the time now available to you, a time where you can follow your interests and develop new ones.  Low course costs and interesting venues are just a few of the incentives to encourage boomers to join us for generational specific topics.”

The range of courses, programs and workshops being offered this semester includes: Veterinary Office Administration, the Lovers’ Feast, Web Programmer, Negotiating, Home Inspection, Nordic Walking, and Practical Home Repair and Redecorating. On-line learners can choose from courses being offered in the areas of Business, Health, Communications, Computers, Law Enforcement, Management, Professional Designations, Technology and General Interest.

In addition to the programs available at the Loyalist College campuses in Belleville and Bancroft, and on-line, many classes are offered in local communities. They are listed in the FOCUS Winter 2008 calendar and on the web site. Workshops, seminars and classes begin at various times throughout the semester and information is available from the following area contacts:
