LOYALIST COLLEGE SEPTEMBER ENROLMENT REACHES 15-YEAR HIGH

September 20, 2018

Belleville, Ontario, September 20, 2018 – September student enrolment at Loyalist College is the largest since 2003, with registrations totaling 3,285, a 14 percent increase from September 2017, Governors were advised at the September 20 Board meeting.

“Loyalist is a Destination College for students locally, nationally and internationally,” said Loyalist President & CEO Ann Marie Vaughan. “More learners are deliberately choosing Loyalist for its supportive and engaged culture which empowers them throughout their experiential post-secondary journey and into their careers as they ‘go places.’”

High enrolment numbers are the result of new program offerings, greater retention, and increased enrolment of international students, which reached 814, a 134.5 percent increase from September 2017.

New full-time programs that started this September include Cannabis Applied Science, Computer Networking & Technical Support, Occupational Therapist Assistant & Physiotherapist Assistant, Global Business Management and Project Management. Through a program partnership with Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU), Loyalist introduced three Cannabis Career Training courses through its Distance Studies and Continuing Education department. In addition, the College launched the Fire Service Career Preparation and Development certificate program, in partnership with Hastings Prince Edward Mutual Aid Association Fire Training Complex in Trenton, for volunteer and career firefighters.
