Loyalist Welcomes Community to Return to Learn Information Session

January 27, 2010

On Tuesday, February 23rd from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Loyalist College invites people who are considering returning to school, and those who have already applied, to visit the campus for Return to Learn. Information will be presented on the program choices available at Loyalist and how to finance a college education, as well as the full range of support services that the College has in place for mature students. There will be an opportunity to arrange an appointment with an advisor to explore further options and assess the value of prior education and work experience.

“When an individual has been away from the school environment for a period of time they have a lot of questions and it can seem overwhelming,” said Jeff Macnab, Registrar. “Program options, the registration process and possible financial assistance are just some of their concerns. At this session we’ll outline opportunities and answer their questions. We’ll provide the information they need to make the educational and career choices that are the best fit for them.”

“Returning to school has been a very positive experience for me,” said Marion Lennox, a first-year Community and Justice Services Worker student. “I operated my own business for 17 years, acquiring many skills along the way but had not completed high school. Individuals such as me come from all walks of life and our questions and concerns can be much different from those of students coming to college directly from high school. This information session is an ideal setting for mature students to comfortably ask these questions.”

The Return to Learn information session will be held Tuesday, February 23rd from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. in the Kente Building at Loyalist College. Additional sessions will be held on March 31st and May 25th. For more information call (613) 969-1913, ext. 2204 or e-mail info@loyalistcollege.com.
