LOYALIST PUBLIC RELATIONS STUDENTS KICK OFF CAMPUS TOY DRIVE

Belleville, Ontario, November 26, 2015 – The Belleville Professional Firefighters Association is inviting the Loyalist community to get involved with this year’s annual Christmas Toy Drive.

“The Christmas Toy Drive ensures that local kids in need have a gift under the tree to wake up to on Christmas morning,” explains volunteer Steph Nguyen, a post-graduate Public Relations student at Loyalist College.

The toy drive has been held for several decades in the Quinte area with great success. Once again this year, the toy drive is accepting new, unwrapped toys, books and monetary donations.

“Santa’s elves are hard at work getting things ready for this year’s deliveries,” says Head Elf, Ryan Turcotte, a local fire fighter. “But we need more help from the community. Donations last year and at the start of this year have been lower than expected. We’re encouraging staff and students at Loyalist to get in the holiday spirit early, and help us make this the best toy drive ever.”

Volunteers are also needed. Toy drive organizers are looking for both part-time and full-time volunteers.

“Volunteering for the toy drive has been a great way to apply the skills I’m learning in the classroom while helping out a great cause at the same time,” says Loyalist post-graduate Public Relations student Liam Webster, a volunteer member of the toy drive’s social media team.

New toy donations can be dropped off in Room 1N1 at Loyalist College until Monday, December 7. Every donation is appreciated.
