Professionals Seek Business Students’ Assistance

January 25, 2013

Thirty companies have registered for the opportunity to present their
project pitch as part of the 10th annual Alliance Excellence Achievement
Program (AEAP) event being held on January 25 and February 1. This group of
business professionals consists of 13 returning companies, eager to tap into
the students’ energy and expertise once again, and 17 new visitors hoping their
project will be one of those chosen by the students. Through the AEAP program,
professionals receive assistance from students in developing and implementing
everything from a business or marketing plan to a social media, employee
training, or recruitment project. For many local businesses, this collaborative
community-based approach provides much needed resources to help address their
economic, social, and sustainability challenges.

It is the third year that Veronica Hendrick-Lockyer, Spokesperson for Glass
Tower Offices Corp., has been one of the presenters. “The students are fabulous
to work with,” she said. “When I first came to them for help I desperately
needed a proper business plan, one that would prepare me to approach
politicians and businesses. They did an excellent job and through that process,
they came up with the reason we are here today – Farm Friend.ze, a non-profit
market garden which addresses poverty conditions in the community. We are
hoping that this year’s students can help us create a structure for the project
which will be attractive to funding sources.”
