Belleville, Ontario, October 6, 2014 – Loyalist College President and CEO Maureen Piercy is very pleased to announce the appointment of Catherine Rushton as the College’s Senior Vice-President Finance and Corporate Services. Ms. Rushton will succeed Senior Vice-President Allan Ross, who will retire from this position in December.

“I am delighted that Cathy will be joining my Executive Team,” said President Piercy. “Her extensive senior finance and administrative experience, and her passion for post-secondary education and student success make her an outstanding fit for Loyalist.” Ms. Rushton’s background includes serving as Vice President Finance and Administration for Red River College in Winnipeg, and senior financial leadership roles with several other organizations. She is currently serving as Director of Finance and Corporate Services at Manitoba Centennial Centre Corporation. She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto, a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Manitoba, and a Chartered Professional Accountant designation. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants of Manitoba. Cathy is involved with her community, and has served on boards and committees including the United Way of Winnipeg, United Church of Canada Foundation, Canadian Animal Blood Bank and Manitoba Immigration Council.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity to join the Loyalist team,” she said. “Loyalist’s comprehensive range of excellent programs and its deep roots in the community and region attracted me to the College.  For my husband and me, this move to the greater Quinte region will mark our return to Ontario where we have lots of family and friends. I’m really looking forward to collaborating with management, faculty, staff, students and the Board of Governors as we work together to fulfill the College’s mission and vision.”
