LOYALIST COLLEGE FOUNDATION HOLDS ANNUAL MEETING

Belleville, Ontario, May 29, 2015 – At the Annual Meeting of The Loyalist College Foundation held on May 27th, members learned that the endowed fund for student support had reached $9.3 Million at March 31, 2015. Bernie Ouellet was re-elected as Chair and Susan Scarborough was re-elected as Vice-Chair for the upcoming year.

Donna Gowthorpe, Mark Rollins, Susan Scarborough and John Sherratt were elected to serve as Community Directors for the upcoming three years.  Continuing as Community representatives on the Board are Directors Kristin Crowe, Catharine Huff, and Margaret Werkhoven.  Current College Board of Governors representatives include Board Chair Brian Smith, Natalie Bohnen-Twiddy, June Hagerman and Bhavik Patel.

Ex-officio Directors include College President and CEO, Maureen Piercy; Vice-President Corporate Services & Chief Financial Officer, Cathy Rushton; and Executive Director of College Advancement & External Relations, Dianne Spencer.

During the year, $572,834 was added to the Foundation Endowment Fund, bringing the Fund total to $9,308,995 at March 31, 2015.  Student support remains a key objective of the Foundation, and during the past year, 339 awards, with a total value of $201,511, were presented at Convocation and at Award Ceremonies held in November and March.   

Foundation Chair Bernie Ouellet acknowledged the important support of the community for the College.  “A highlight of the year was the recognition of the success of the College’s Capital Campaign, which topped $6.5 Million by the end of March 2015, thanks to commitments from over 700 donors,” he said.  “This is a remarkable achievement and I was pleased to serve as the Co-Chair of the Campaign, along with the Honorary Chair of the Foundation, Wilf Wilkinson. A heartfelt thank you again to our community partners and the many individuals who helped achieve this result to support the students and programs at Loyalist College.”  

The Loyalist College Foundation was established in 1995 to provide leadership in meeting the goals for long-term development and fundraising to benefit the students and programs at Loyalist College.
