Post-graduate certificate programs at Loyalist

Cannabis Applied Science

  • Study in a Health Canada licensed facility using advanced extraction technologies and state-of-the art analytical instrumentation. 
  • Learn how to apply a range of lab techniques for the extraction and analysis of cannabis to increase the quality, consistency and safety of cannabis and cannabis products.
  • Understand relevant legislations, regulations and guidelines pertaining to the cannabis industry, and explore appropriate security and safety protocols.
  • Apply your knowledge to real-world challenges during a field placement with Licensed Producers.

Care of Vulnerable Populations

  • Explore strategies for developing and maintaining therapeutic relationships with aged and palliative patients, thereby fostering their dignity, self-worth and independence.
  • Become familiar with ethical, legal and spiritual considerations with regard to the care of vulnerable populations, and develop an understanding of individual and multicultural approaches to aging, death, dying and grieving.
  • Apply theory and concepts as related to caring for vulnerable populations and palliative patients through a combination of a clinical practicum and immersive simulation.

Cyber Security

  • Learn how to develop, implement and evaluate cyber security solutions to protect organizations from internal and external threats.
  • Practise assessing defensive programming and cyber security strategies, and gain experience recommending security controls for the effective maintenance and deployment of cyber security solutions to protect systems and information.
  • Acquire skills for designing and implementing cyber security polices and strategies using project management principles.
  • Develop strategies for optimizing the effectiveness of the information security in a business environment through risk mitigation and information systems auditing.
  • Explore designing and implementing vulnerability assessment procedures to identify and solve existing network security issues.
  • Get first-hand workplace experience during a co-op in semester four.

Global Business Management

Human Resources Management

  • A four-week field placement provides valuable industry contacts and practical HR management experience.
  • All courses are approved for credit towards nationally recognized CHRP certification.

Law Clerk Advanced

  • Gain the specialized skills and knowledge needed to become a law clerk. This program is best suited for graduates of a paralegal program accredited by the Law Society of Ontario.
  • Graduates of this program will offer a unique set of skills, those of both a paralegal and a law clerk. Prepare for a rewarding career working as part of a legal team in settings such as law firms, government legal departments, ministries and agencies, financial institutions, insurance companies and corporate legal departments.

Double diplomas

Loyalist also offers a wide range of double diploma opportunities, allowing graduates of a diploma program to complete a second diploma in a related area of study in only one additional calendar year.
